The Weave is more than just mechanics and maps…it is the stories that bind them together. We are opening a new Strand to Fantasy Chronicles. Whether you are penning an epic saga one chapter at a time or a collection of standalone fables, we want your voice.

Scribe’s Standards for Fiction

We welcome creative prose, provided it meets our standards for immersion and quality:

  • Serialized Stories: We accept long-form stories published on a chapter-by-chapter basis. Each chapter should feel like a complete “beat” while leaving the reader hungry for the next.

  • Approval First: To maintain the quality of the Weave, all story premises and chapters must be vetted and approved before publication.

  • Immersive Prose: Focus on vivid imagery and character depth. While we allow for experimentation, we prioritize stories that resonate with the spirit of high fantasy and adventure.

  • Human Creativity: The Weave is a place for human imagination. AI-generated stories are strictly prohibited.

Influence, Impact, & Evolution

We believe in rewarding the creators who bring life to the Weave. As a Scribe, you earn through your reach and the potential for your work to grow.

  1. Retention: You retain 100% of the rights to your stories and characters.

  2. The Stipend: You earn $10.00 for every 2000 unique views your chapter receives. Payouts are capped at a maximum of $50.00 per chapter, reached at 10,000 unique views.

  3. From Story to Supplement: Standout stories and characters may be selected for adaptation into official DnD supplements by Twist of the Fates. If your fiction is chosen for a supplement, you will earn additional royalties as it becomes part of the playable lore.

  4. Your Legacy: Track your story’s growth and your earned stipend through your private Scribe’s Desk.

Welcome to Twist of the Fates! This website (twistofthefates.com) is operated by Twist of the Fates. By accessing or using our website, purchasing our digital products, or engaging with our blog and community, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our website or services.



Age Requirement


You must be at least 18 years of age to use this website, purchase digital products, or participate in the Scribe program. By using this site, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.



User Content


By posting comments, reviews, messages, or other content to our community features, blog, or social media channels, you grant Twist of the Fates a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, and display such content. You represent and warrant that you own or control all rights to the content you post and that its public use will not infringe upon the rights of any third party. Twist of the Fates reserves the right, but not the obligation, to monitor, edit, or remove any user-generated content at our sole discretion.



Intellectual Property and AI Training Prohibition


Except where otherwise specified in a separate agreement (such as the Scribe Program Terms), all content published on this site, including text, art, and mechanics, is the exclusive property of Twist of the Fates. You are strictly prohibited from using any material from this website, including purchased adventures and Scribe stories, for the purpose of training machine learning or artificial intelligence models.



Digital Product Licenses and Use


When you purchase a digital product, you are granted a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license for individual, non-commercial tabletop role-playing games. Use is permitted for a private group, which is defined as a small gathering of players for personal entertainment. This does not include large-scale community groups, public broadcasts, or any scenario where a fee is charged for participation.



You ARE Permitted To:



  • Download and save the product for personal use.

  • Print physical copies for personal use.

  • Use the content in personal tabletop games with your private group.



You ARE NOT Permitted To:



  • Sell, redistribute, or sublicense the product.

  • Use the product for commercial purposes, including monetized Actual Play broadcasts or digital streaming.

  • Share or upload products to public forums or file-sharing sites.



Purchases, Payments, and Chargebacks


Payments are processed securely via Stripe. Unauthorized or fraudulent chargebacks will result in a permanent ban from all services and reporting to industry fraud databases. Twist of the Fates is not responsible for any fees or losses resulting from incorrect payment information provided by the user.



Refund Policy


All sales of digital products are final. Products are considered accessed and non-refundable once a download link has been generated, emailed, or the product files have been opened. By purchasing or downloading a digital product from Twist of the Fates, you acknowledge that you are requesting immediate performance of the contract and you explicitly waive any statutory right to a cooling-off period or refund where applicable by law.



Successors and Assigns


The rights and obligations under these terms shall inure to the benefit of and be binding upon the parties and their respective successors and permitted assigns.



Modifications to Terms


Twist of the Fates reserves the right to update or change these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the updated terms to the website. Your continued use of the website following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.



Governing Law and Jurisdiction


These terms shall be governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, United States. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Louisiana for any disputes.



Disclaimer of Warranties


The website and all digital products, content, and services provided through twistofthefates.com are provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Twist of the Fates disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Twist of the Fates does not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. Your use of the website and any products purchased is at your own risk.



Limitation of Liability


To the maximum extent permitted by law, Twist of the Fates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the website or products. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to Twist of the Fates in the twelve months preceding the claim.



Third-Party Links


This website may contain links to third-party sites. Twist of the Fates does not monitor or control these websites and is not responsible for their content, privacy policies, or security practices. Your use of third-party links is at your own risk.



Prohibition of Automated Scraping


The use of automated systems, including bots, spiders, crawlers, or scrapers, to extract data or content from any part of twistofthefates.com is strictly prohibited. This protection extends to all narrative stories, digital products, blog content, site metadata, and proprietary game mechanics. Any attempt to data mine or scrape content for re-hosting, redistribution, or for use in third party applications or databases is a violation of these terms and will result in immediate termination of access.



Dispute Resolution


Any dispute or claim relating in any way to your use of the website or products will be resolved by binding arbitration in the State of Louisiana, rather than in court. Twist of the Fates and You each agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action.



Severability


If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remaining terms shall otherwise remain in full force and effect and enforceable.



Prohibited Conduct


You agree not to use the website for any unlawful purpose. Prohibited actions include, but are not limited to, the transmission of malware, impersonating others, harassing site members or staff, or attempting to gain unauthorized access to any part of the website or its related systems.



General Indemnification


Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Twist of the Fates from any claims, damages, or legal fees resulting from your use of the website, violation of these terms, or any content you post to our community features.



Right to Terminate Access


Twist of the Fates reserves the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or cancel orders at our sole discretion, including, without limitation, if we believe that customer conduct violates applicable law or is harmful to the interests of Twist of the Fates.


The Scribe's Vow

Scribe Program Terms & Conditions

We believe in rewarding the creators who bring life to the Weave. These terms outline the agreement regarding your contributions to our platform.



Program Eligibility


Participation in the Scribe program is currently in beta and is strictly limited to legal residents of the United States. By participating, you represent and warrant that you possess a valid United States Taxpayer Identification Number. These terms are a supplement to the General Terms and Conditions; by participating, you agree to be bound by both documents, including sections on Governing Law and Dispute Resolution.



Attribution and Credit


Twist of the Fates will provide attribution for your work on the Scribe Desk and in official supplements. However, we maintain final editorial discretion regarding the style, font, and placement of author credits. Scribes are responsible for providing their preferred pseudonym at the time of submission.



Content Submission and Formatting


You grant Twist of the Fates a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, promote, and distribute your work. This includes:



  • Reformatting Rights: We reserve the right to correct typographical or technical errors and reformat chapters for visual consistency.

  • Metadata: We may modify SEO titles, descriptions, and permalinks to improve search visibility.

  • Revocation: This license is revocable with 30 days’ written notice, except for chapters that have already qualified for or received a performance stipend.



Performance Stipends and Anti-Fraud


To maintain high standards for our library, stipends are governed by the following rules:



  • Rate: 5.00 dollars (USD) for every 1,000 unique views per chapter.

  • Thresholds: A chapter must reach the 5.00 dollar individual threshold for payout; chapters are not combined.

  • Minimum Standards: Chapters must be at least 1,500 words and pass editorial review. Content deemed “padded” or of low narrative value may be disqualified.

  • Payout Cap: The maximum lifetime payout per chapter is 50.00 dollars (USD).

  • Metric Finality: Payouts are calculated via our internal Scribe Desk metrics. Invalid traffic (bots, click groups, etc.) will result in withheld payments.



Payment and W-9 Requirements


PayPal is the exclusive method of payment. Payouts are processed on the 1st of every month for chapters meeting the threshold. A completed W-9 form is required before your first payout. Any stipends remaining unpaid for 12 months due to invalid payment info will be deemed abandoned.



Official Supplement Adaptations


If a story is selected as an official supplement, the following applies:



  • Royalties: 10% of Net Revenue, paid quarterly.

  • Ownership: You retain ownership of your characters; Twist of the Fates acquires ownership of game mechanics, stat blocks, and magic items introduced in the narrative.

  • Exclusivity: Twist of the Fates maintains the exclusive right to sell or distribute the official supplement.



AI Prohibition and Conduct


AI generation is strictly prohibited. Determination of AI use is at the sole discretion of our editorial team. Violations of community guidelines or the submission of infringing content are grounds for immediate removal and forfeiture of unpaid stipends.



Appeal Process


If a submission is flagged for AI or conduct violations, Scribes have 7 business days to submit an appeal with evidence (drafts, outlines, version history). A final, binding decision will be issued by the editorial team within 14 business days.



Abandoned Content


Stories inactive for more than six months will be marked as Discontinued. If essential to world lore, we reserve the right to commission a conclusion. In such cases, the original author’s royalty rate for any future supplement is reduced to 5% to cover the cost of completion.



Taxes and Data Privacy


Scribes are independent contractors. Form 1099-NEC will be issued for payments of 600.00 dollars or more per year. Your Taxpayer Identification Number is stored using high-level encryption for legal compliance only.
